About
I completed a Level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage and Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology from the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork in 2008, before going on to complete a Diploma in Thai Massage at the same college in 2015.
I am also accredited in Indian head massage, hot stone massage, pregnancy and post-natal massage, seated/chair massage. I participate in regular continued professional development to further my techniques: I have attended advanced training in freeing the shoulders and neck, myofascial release, deep tissue work, hands free techniques, 3D side-lying, alignment techniques and focused training on working into the hips and lower back.
As a fully qualified practitioner my main aim is to show people how to make the most of their bodies and enable self-efficacy. I have found that through regular treatment my clients become closer to their bodies, feeling their way through weakness as well as tension, learning postural awareness and, importantly, discovering activities that will work for them to improve their overall health. Such activities range from taking up yoga or Pilates, running or other cardio exercise to spending more time outdoors in nature and making more time for themselves, to sitting correctly at a laptop, giving up smoking, reducing sugar intake, to simply buying a new pillow. These are just some of the ways that illustrate how massage therapy can help clients reach their full potential as human beings.
When I am not performing massages I enjoy being outdoors and keeping fit; gig rowing, surfing, yoga, running, hiking and wild swimming, and pursuing my other interests nutrition, all things vintage and retro, complementary health education, and camping with my children.
I revel in working in a fast paced, usually muddy environment, and meeting friendly folk in a festive atmosphere. I have worked at The Larmer Tree, WOMAD and Port Eliot, and a vast array of smaller local and community festivals.
So if you are looking for a person with my particular skill sets for your event please do get in touch.
I am fully insured with Balens and an accredited member of the Massage Training Institute.
I am based at West Cornwall Inner Space, Old Newlyn School, Wesley Place, Newlyn, TR18 5AZ.
